Make no decision: though adoption may be right for you, it can be a difficult decision. But you don’t need to navigate it alone. Helping Hands Pregnancy and Parenting Center provides the information you need and connects you to valuable resources.
Women choose adoption for many reasons. Know that your reason is valid, and you can choose what’s best for you and your unique situation.
Considering Adoption?
When considering adoption, there’s much to think about. You may feel you can’t “give up a baby” or will face guilt after the decision. But know that instead of abandoning your child, you are making a courageous choice to provide a safe, loving environment for them.
You can choose from multiple adoption plans: open adoption, semi-open adoption, and closed adoption. Each option offers a different level of contact, and no one can pressure you to make a decision you feel uncomfortable with.
Open Adoption
Open adoptions allow for the most flexibility and contact. You choose the adoptive family, establish a relationship with them and the child through regular contact, and play an active role in the child’s life.
Semi-Open Adoption
Though semi-open adoptions aren’t as common, this plan may be the right choice for you. You’ll still have contact with the adoptive family, but all communication occurs through a third-party, like an adoption agency or attorney.
Closed Adoption
This plan offers the most privacy. You remain anonymous and do not have any contact with the adoptive family or child. Your identifying records will be sealed. Some women choose a closed adoption if they are in an unsafe environment or desire confidentiality.
Making Your Adoption Decision
Choosing adoption can offer the peace of mind you need. Rest assured that you don’t pay for any part of the adoption process, and you may even be eligible for financial or material assistance.
While Helping Hands Pregnancy and Parenting Center doesn’t facilitate adoptions, we offer comprehensive information about this pregnancy decision and can refer you to qualified adoption agencies.
